A social wine tasting with The Modest Merchant..
Most of us know that we don’t know that much about wine. What we do have are a handful of experiences — bottles we’ve enjoyed, ones we haven’t — and from those we’ve perhaps drawn a few conclusions.
“I only like Sauvignon Blanc.”
“I don’t like Chardonnay.”
“I only like French wines.”
This relaxed, guided tasting is designed to gently unpack those assumptions, and to show how much variety actually exists within them. We’ll explore how how the things we think we dislike are often just particular versions of a wine, rather than a grape or region.
Join us for an informal evening with Jack from The Modest Merchant, a Suffolk-rooted wine importer with over a decade of experience working with small, thoughtful producers.
Through a guided tasting of six carefully chosen wines, we’ll notice differences and compare experiences. You'll come away with a clearer sense of what you enjoy — without needing to redraw your tastes from scratch.
