Stress, Anxiety & How We Cope – A Conversation at socialbar
Monday 11 August 6–9:30pm
Led by Steve Peck, Human Givens therapist & co-owner of socialbar
What is stress, really? What’s the difference between stress and anxiety? Why do our minds sometimes make things harder, not easier?
Join us for an informal evening exploring these questions — and more — through honest conversation, shared insights and practical takeaways.
This free, donation-based event offers a chance to understand stress and anxiety using the Human Givens approach — a simple, needs-based model of mental health. We’ll talk emotional needs, the stress response and tools for feeling more grounded in day-to-day life.
Whether you're struggling yourself, supporting someone else or just curious and keen for in-person discussion, you're welcome here.
What to expect:
– Relaxed, guided conversation
– Small group discussions
– Practical tips you can use
– Wine, coffee & snacks, including mini brioche sandwiches, available to buy. We kindly ask that you leave outside drinks and food at home
– Doors open at 5.30pm | Workshop runs 6.00–9.30pm | Bar open until 10pm
Suggested donation: £10 – all proceeds go to Suffolk Mind, a local mental health charity working to improve wellbeing across the community. Their work is grounded in the same Human Givens approach we’ll explore in the workshop.
Seats are limited – reserve yours now. If you can’t make it, please let us know at hello@visitsocialbar.com so someone else can join.
This is part of our new series of free, open-invite talks at socialbar — because real conversations matter.
